AfroLA Mentor: Youth Activism 101 Workshop
Huge thanks to @afrolanews and our incredible mentor, Ms. Dana Amihere, for hosting the Youth Activism 101 Workshop and empowering our DV Connect Lit team with invaluable insights on activism! Her guidance has truly inspired us to use our voices boldly and continue advocating for meaningful change within our community.
During the workshop, we explored the fundamentals of youth activism—understanding how we can mobilize around important social issues, effectively use storytelling for advocacy, and engage our peers in meaningful conversations about change. DV Connect Lit learned the importance of amplifying underrepresented voices, strategies for organizing, and how to navigate challenges that arise in activism work.
The workshop has encouraged our club to take action and foster a culture of advocacy, both through our writing and by creating spaces for youth engagement. We’re excited to continue these efforts and look forward to collaborating on more initiatives that empower the next generation of changemakers. Thank you again, Ms. Dana Amihere and @afrolanews, for supporting us in our journey!
